Radiohead have chosen Clement Picon's aniboom In Rainbows musiv video contest entry to be the official video for Reckoner. Its a nice fit with the whole epic, back-to-Earth (complete with guitars, melodies, and a largely user-friendly vibe) touchdown theme; and, like the album, deftly transmutes the vision of rebirth/a new beginning with a spirit of organic, human growth and transcendence. The images and editing rhythm capture the sweet, woozy sensibilities of the song - once an explosive and, well, reckoning rocker, reimagined as a poetic rhapsody replete with a swash of reverbed strings, piano, harmonies, and fragile percussion. Like the song, it may not be the most immediately rewarding on the list, but over a few repeats reveals a timeless beauty that's sure to leave a warm, fuzzy memory ;p

In related news, Cadence Weapone has submitted an entry for the Reckoner Remix Project as well. He joins a list of big names like James Holden, Julianna Barwick, Diplo and Flying Lotus. We all know how dodgy the voting process is, so I'll just go ahead and say my favourite of the lot is Deadly Syndrome's mix. The entries seem alot more generic in general compared to the Nude remix, but I suppose that's partly due to the far more remix-friendly, 4/4 nature of Reckoner. I guess that's alot of recent attention for Radiohead, who've lent Reckoner to the Choke OST, and are actually getting their singles(!) played on radio stations worlwide. More subversive anti-anti machinations?
