Retail therapy
Im posting these only cos someone looks down on transformers =/
Spent $400++ within 2 days. Well, it's cos my mom has $700 annual allowance to get IT related stuff, and I havent used any of it so far heh. Indulgence really. I was this close to getting a UM2 or super.fi 5 pro, but decided to wait for promo, cos splashing $400 on earphones really makes you think twice lol. Would have been easy to just get a UM1 or SE310 on the spot, but after being poisoned by dual driver solutions, single drivers just sound like a huge compromise =(

Transformation was admittedly on the average level for a masterpiece edition. Looks amazing though, particularly in vehicle mode. I kinda dig the battle-damaged look, the panel lines and washes remind me of gundam kits; and it'll age better as well. Not the most stable of models, especially in robot mode, pretty much impossible to pose without the display stand. Some surfaces are pretty hard to line flush along others and jut out in vehicle mode. All in all quite a steal for 1/3rd the price though =D

Nice packaging, and pretty sure this is the sexiest keyboard in the world. Yes, nicer than its bigger cousin the Tarantula, or the massively overpriced Logitech diNovo Edge. I'll miss having dedicated macro keys, but its small, minimalist form factor kinda makes up for it. The glossy finish is gonna be a dust and fingerprint magnet though ><

Pretty lights
Nothing much to say about the Diamondback...its basically better than my old Logitech MX815 in every way except ergonomics. The teflon pads look to be of much better quality as well so hopefully it'll last longer. The Barracuda mouse pad is pretty cool, it's one of those dual-sided pads with different smoothness (less friction vs less surface contact). Maybe I should have gotten those soft ones instead though, I hear they're gentler on mice feet.
No I didnt get these to play TF2. If anything, I'll use them more for photoshop than gaming. Really, it was purely an aesthetic selection lol. Well, I now have an old but functional Logitech wireless set to give away, anyone interested? Chances are it's still better than what the average user has heh. I just got tired of replacing batteries every few weeks.
Also watched Star Wars last nite...very disappointing. Soulless sums it up...as many reviewers have pointed out, it just seems like an extended trailer for the animation series. The 100 minutes played out like several video game cutscenes strung together, minus whatever innovation, suspense, or even that familiar tingle of expectancy one has come to expect from the games (JK and KotOR at least). Character development is almost non-existent, dialogue consists of cheesy one-liners and battle commands, and the general pacing is non-stop cut from space battle to ground warfare to lightsaber duel - somewhat akin to smashing one's head into a wall repeatedly.
Plot is naturally shallow and predictable; but unfortunately its uninspired as well. Zero psychology of characters, minimal development of locales apart from a skyline track-in of Courascant and a tedious trek through Tatooine. Stiff attempts at humour were grating. Even the music score was average, particularly those industrial rock tracks that have become synonymous with sci fi battle scenes. I guess George Lucas targeted this one specifically at kids, but it's not even all that fun. About the only saving grace was the spectacular graphics, but I'm kinda at the age where it's difficult to be blown away by eye candy alone.
Most people were ringing the death kneel for Star Wars by the time EpiIII was out, but I quite enjoyed Revenge of the Sith actually. Perhaps because I read the novel as well; and found its allegories of flame and passion, temptation, destruction, and more vividly light and shadow to be rather evocative. The detailed expositions of lightsaber duels and Jedi styles appealed to the otaku in me as well. But Clone Wars is pretty much irrevocably terribad. The Force, to be cliche, is clearly not with this one. Lacks the far-flung galactic sci-fi spirit of the original trilogy, and even the over-the-top, ebullient dramatization of the recent episodes. Oh well, I suppose I shouldn't even consider it a proper Star Wars movie, since it didn't feature the classic scrolling "story so far" intro...
